The Concept of the In Between
The In Between is an intermediate space or interval of time. Intermediate space is the leftover, transitional, abandoned spaces bound by defined entities. It is the forgotten and neglected spaces often found on the fringes of society. An interval of time is a pause of activity, a break within a conversation, or an anticipation to venture forth. It has the potentiality of an action or a brief moment of calm within a chaotic city life.
During the pursuit of this concept, it was essential to explore the non-entities within the city, providing a new way of viewing the city. This is expressed in the words of Henry Miller, “One’s destination is never a place, but a new way of seeing things.” Such spaces are those that can promote a unique perspective of the city.
